Writers at Play Virtual In-School Playwriting Program Informational

Virtual In-School Playwriting Program:

 An Informational Session

Wednesday, October 21st, from 6:00 to 7:00pm (EST)

Sneak peek of YPT's new, virtual curriculum, Writers at Play

Are you looking for ways to inject fun and creativity into your virtual classrooms this fall? YPT is thrilled to announce the launch of Writers at Play, a set of digital tools that educators and families can use to teach elementary, middle, and high school learners to write their own original plays over 12 guided workshops. Join YPT on Wednesday, October 21, at 6pm, as we unveil this exciting new resource in a free Zoom event.

In this info session, we will introduce Writers at Play, demonstrate the new curriculum, provide tips on how to access our Thinkific platform and how to use it to activate learning and creativity, and offer a Q&A about the program.

YPT will gift three attendees to Writers at Play Information Session with a Writers at Play platform license which includes the entire Writers at Play curriculum and toolkit on our new learning platform, Thinkific. This is a great opportunity for educators and parents who wish to explore our new playwriting program at no cost to see if it is a good fit for your students' needs.  Space is limited; reserve your spot today!

Our online informational session will be hosted by YPT Program Director Jared Shamberger. Jared oversees all YPT Programming and developed Writers at Play in response to the needs of young people, educators, and families engaging in virtual and hybrid learning. Also joining us is Dr. LaMar Bagley, Director of Student Life at The SEED School of Washington, D.C., a long-time and valued YPT school partner where YPT delivers multiple customized playwriting and storytelling programs.

About Writers at Play

An award-winning arts education company with nationally recognized curriculum, YPT is dedicated to continuing to support young people, educators, and families through virtual learning opportunities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We spent the summer outfitting the program space in our headquarters as a working video production studio to develop engaging instructional videos for virtual instruction. In Writers at Play, this new video series is paired with our signature playwriting resources and a newly developed teacher guide to help activate creativity and learning in virtual classrooms.

Built on YPT’s award-winning In-School Playwriting Program, Writers at Play features 8 high-quality instructional videos delivered over 12 guided workshops. Writers at Play will engage 3rd to 12th-grade learners as they realize the power of their own voices and write their own original plays. To increase access to Writers at Play, YPT is launching our new curriculum on the learning management platform, Thinkific, an easy-to-use online portal that includes a video player, downloadable resources, and more.

For educators and families who want to deliver our Writers at Play curriculum directly to their young people, YPT has created a synchronous course, complete with a teacher guide and student resource list. For educators who want to engage students in creative storytelling during independent learning time, we are launching an asynchronous version where students work independently in a private course module for your classroom. We crafted age-specific courses for Elementary (Grades 3-5), Middle (Grades 6-8), and High School learners (Grades 9-12), to ensure the curriculum fits the needs of any school professional, educator, caregiver, or individual student.
