Aeneas Hemphill

Aeneas Sagar Hemphill is an Indian-American playwright, actor and educator based in DC, making magical, socially-engaged work that is flexible in genre, style and tone. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University and a BA in Drama and Asian Studies from Kenyon College. His plays have been developed with Noor Theatre, The Lark, Dreamscape Theatre, Slingshot Theatre, Pipeline Theatre Company, Kenyon College, Amios, Play Garden, The New School, and Columbia University. He was a recipient of the Schubert Fellowship in 2014, finalist for the 2017 Many Voices Fellowship with Playwrights’ Center, a member of the 2017 Pipeline PlayLab, finalist for Mabou Mines' 2019 Resident Artist Program, a March 2019 resident with Monson Arts Center, and Semi-Finalist for the 2019 Princess Grace Award.
