Young Playwrights' Theater inspires young people to realize the power of their own voices.

Tell It Forward - The Power of Stories to Shape Our Future

Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT) is excited to announce Tell It Forward - The Power of Stories to Shape Our Future, a YPT virtual event showcasing our students as they tell stories to process their present and shape their future.

Like many small arts nonprofits, YPT is navigating economic uncertainty in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that many of our community members are facing similar uncertainty. Tickets to Tell It Forward are free to ensure that everyone who wants to celebrate our students is able to attend this virtual event. If you can, we hope that you will support YPT generously through a donation in lieu of ticket costs.

During this unprecedented time, young people across our region are experiencing the world in new and unexpected ways. YPT is committed to continuing to provide our community with high-quality arts experiences while schools and theaters are closed via distance learning, online playwriting programs and virtual theatrical events. We are retaining our full staff during this time, as each member of our team is integral to YPT’s continued success. Over the next six weeks, YPT is raising $10,000 to sustain our operations and support our adapted programming. Your gift today will ensure that YPT can continue to inspire young people to realize the power of their voices and share their brilliance with the world throughout this crisis and beyond.

Please donate to help YPT continue our service to young people across our region, and then join us on social media (@yptdc on FacebookTwitter and Instagram) and YouTube or Facebook Live on Saturday, May 30th, to help us Tell It Forward and leverage the power of stories to shape our future together. Reserve your ticket for links to the event on both platforms. No matter how you file your 2020 taxes, take advantage of the CARES Act charitable giving allowances. Even if you don’t itemize, you can claim up to $300 in deductions for donations to YPT!

If you're not able to tune in on May 30, but would still like to support YPT, you can donate online or contact Jessica Wisser at to discuss other ways to get involved.
