Promising Playwright Summer
Update! |
|
What do Young
Playwrights do over the summer? We decided to find
out. Here are a few updates on some Promising
Playwrights we have profiled in the past.
Promising Playwright, June 2007
Cecelia is working at the Spy Museum in
downtown Washington. She will continue her
communications degree next year at Trinity
College.
Aaron Boose
Promising

Aaron
is working for the DC Children and Youth Investment
Trust Corp. and will complete his degree in African
American Studies at Howard University next year.
Nicole
Jost
Promising
Playwright, September 2007
Nicole
graduated in June from University of California with a
BA in "Theater and Cultural Politics." She is
proud to report that this year, "I directed an original,
ensemble-created piece called 'Play.' The cast was made
up of 8 amazing women. We did everything from haiku to
clowning to Shakespeare. It was the coolest show I've
worked on to date."
She is
teaching YPT's summer dramatics class at Bell
Multicultural High School. She says, "Working with
YPT students never ceases to amaze me."
Jane Stirling
Promising
Playwright, January 2008
Jane has a
busy summer including, "Playing with my friends and
cousins, taking trips, a bit of summer camp, and going
to dance camp for the first time ever."
She counts her experience having her play produced
for the Express Tour as her proudest
accomplishment for the past year. "It made me feel like
I am better at writing than I thought I was," she
says. "It made me feel good about trying new things
because I had never felt good about trying new
things. For example, swim team. This year I
tried it, and made it to the A
Team."
