As the only professional theater company in Washington, DC entirely dedicated to arts education, programming is at the heart of what we do.

Through innovative In-School, After-School, Summer programming and Residencies we advance:

• student literacy
• creative expression
• communication

• conflict resolution

We are developing a new generation of  playwrights whose views are traditionally underrepresented in the theater and the community.   

Each season YPT selects student playwrights’ best work to be performed by professional actors for audiences throughout the mid-Atlantic region through our Express Tour or single play performances.
