YPT’s residency program empowers teachers and students throughout Greater Washington to successfully integrate the arts into their classroom through high-quality arts education experiences and professional development. Offering workshops for teachers or students, YPT faculty and staff collaborate with teachers, principals and administrators to craft specific series of workshops, in-school activities, performances or professional development workshops for educators. Workshop series run from semester- or year-long programs to single workshops or performances of the Express Tour. Topics include
- enhancing literacy through the art of playwriting
- the playwright’s craft
- beginning or advanced acting
- beginning or advanced directing
- rehearsing, producing, and performing a play from first rehearsal to closing night.
