Kyrtham Franco is a sixth grader at Capitol City Public Charter School and the author of Magnet Dude, featured in the Fall 2006 Express Tour.
In Magnet Dude, the title character faces the trials and tribulations of life as a super hero. Kyrtham’s comedy was inspired by his love of cartoons. He advises other aspiring writers "Just plan and write all your ideas down. Then do a final one and present it in front of an audience so they can critique it."
When Magnet Dude was presented for Kyrtham’s classmates at Capitol City, they thought it was "funny and creative." Of his own play, Kyrtham says, "I didn’t think it was going to be that good but it got chosen and I was surprised. I got kind of happy and mom’s all kind of excited."
Although he doesn’t have any other dramatic works currently planned, Kyrtham is aiming to become a doctor or lawyer. He’d like to one day go to college, complete a degree, find a good job and a good house. He currently lives in Takoma Park with his mom, dad, brother, two sisters, two pet birds and a pet gerbil.
