YPT Internships
YPT offers professional internships in Arts Administration and Arts Education throughout the year. Available in semester, year-long, or summer units, YPT’s internships provide participants with an education in nonprofit management, administration, and arts education. Interns are treated as temporary staff members and are contracted for approximately 10 to 30 hours per week, depending on a candidate’s availability, in exchange for either course credit or a small stipend. Working with YPT is a great way to learn about all aspects of running a small nonprofit theater or to gain hands-on experience in arts education. Teaching Artist
Contract Position
 
Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT) teaches students throughout the D.C. metro area to express themselves clearly and creatively through the art of playwriting. YPT hires professional artists and writers to guide students through the dramatic writing process in two primary programs: In the In-School Playwriting Program, students learn how to craft a play while exploring improvisation, free writing, revision, rehearsal and performance; while the After-School Playwriting Program strengthens students’ community engagement, collaboration, and conflict resolution by exploring a theatrical process as an ensemble. Teaching artists must have excellent communication skills, working experience in the classroom, and be available to teach at least two days a week from September through December. Teaching artists must have excellent communication skills, working experience in the classroom, and be available to teach at least two days a week from September through December. 
 
Education:  Ideal candidates will have a degree in theatre and experience as a professional artist and educator. Ability to teach classes in Spanish a plus.
